How do I use the Writing sections?

In the Writing section of the test you will demonstrate your ability to communicate in writing in an academic environment. There are two different writing tasks. You may take notes and use your notes while writing your essay.

Writing Question Types

Integrated Writing Task
For the first writing task, you will first read a passage and listen to a lecture. You will then write about how the ideas in the reading passage and listening passage are related.

Sample Notes

In the Writing section of the test you are allowed to take notes and use the notes while writing your essay. In the Writing Skills section of this program, you will practice taking notes for both Integrated and Independent Tasks. You will take notes while reading a passage, listening to a passage, or preparing your answer to an independent task question.
